Hi. And welcome to the 34th Pct. Auxiliary Units website. I am Sgt. Joel Cruz, the units Training Sergeant. Allow me to tell you a little about the Field Training Unit. The mission of the Field Training Unit is to train newly enrolled members of the service to meet the established performance standards of the New York City Auxiliary Police Department. We ensure that all Aux. M.O.S are fully trained and ready to greet and treat the public with Courtesy Professionalism and Respect. The training unit consist of 8 well trained officers who sit through a 5 day training course teaching them the policies and procedures of the Auxiliary Program. They also go through radio training teaching them the proper way to use, carry, and report incidents to central using the radio. Additionally, they are taught proper field tactics that can be of great importance out in the field. After which they complete a 50 question exam in which they must pass to become an FTO {Field Training Officer}.
